On Thursday 5th August all the year 2 children went on an excursion to the Brisbane Exhibition (Ekka). The Ekka is a carnival that goes for 10 days every August. It is when people from the country bring their animals and produce to the city to be judged and to promote their region. There are lots of things to see and do at the Ekka. We went because we are learning about where our food comes from and how it gets to the supermarket.
We caught the train at 8.43am and got to the Ekka at about 9.45am. When we got there we sat down and had our morning tea. after morning tea we went off with our parent helper to see the cows, animal nursery, lambs being born, milking cows, the produce pavilion, and the government pavilion. After seeing all of these things we met up for lunch. After lunch we went off again with our parent helper to the showbag pavilion. We were allowed to buy one showbag up to the value of $15. After we bought our showbags we met outside the showbag pavilion before we caught the train back to school. We got back to school at 3.15pm. We were all very tired but we had a great day and saw lots of new and interesting things.
